Riders on the Storm

The damage from last night's hurricane in Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisania is unreal. My little town has been flooded with those who fled from the weather - and we are 8 hours from the coast! One of my student's parents owns a hotel here, and their patrons told them that there were no vacancys between the coast and here. It's all just really sad. They will go home to shreds of what they left.

Are hurricanes scary or what? My sister lives near Destin, Florida and it is just a miracle that she is fine and her home only sustained minor damage. The house across the street had a tree crash down on it and other neighborhood homes had significant structural damage. What makes it even more amazing is that my sister's home was one of only two homes on the street that didn't have the windows boarded!
