No rest for the weary

I feel like I've been on a very long trip, but I've been at home the whole time. My whole idea of being lazy and doing absolutely nothing last week reached up and bit me in the rear. You see, I kept my wonderful baby boy cooped up with me all week - only getting out of the house one day (Wednesday) - just relaxing and trying to get back on our schedule. What I didn't know was that an evil monster was brewing inside my loving, cuddly son. On Saturday, one of my very best friends, L., came to visit while our husbands went off to play golf at a nearby course. It's been a while since we've seen each other, and I was so excited for her to see how Chase had grown, and how much he was talking - well, just to show her all the wonderful things that all mommies are proud of! He went absolutely apeshit all. day. long. When we went to lunch, he spit (SPIT!) his mouthful of drink all over me, he spit chunks of roll all over the floor...while visiting my parents, he was uncontrollable. He terrorized the cat, beat nana's flowers to a pulp, and once even tried to hit (HIT!) at L.! I wanted to crawl up and cry! Where was my son!?!?! He was so very hyper, and truthfully it didn't go away until his nap yesterday (Sunday). Well, by the time out dinner our arrived that night, I wanted to pull my hair out (and I suspect it looked like I already had). I called my mother on the way home from dinner and told her how embarrassed I was over the way he acted, and that I felt that L. probably thought Chase was an awful child and that I was a bad mom. I am just appalled at this uncharacteristic behavior. Is this a reoccurring thing????
This week will be different, with seemingly no free time...the Hubs has taken the week off, we have VBS this week, I'm planning a yard sale with my mom for Saturday, AND my SIL (the hubs's sister) is coming to visit with her 3 kiddos. If the relaxing, do nothing week didn't work, then this one should!

Heh, who am I kidding...I have a two-year-old.

ohh I remember those days... just wait until he turns FOUR! :P Stay sane, my friend.

you're scaring me.

Oh dear! I'm sorry to hear all that, but I've heard this is quite normal for 2-year-olds (shrugging because I am truly clueless...and scared!). He looks so precious playing with the kitty!

Jake's been a shit lately too. And we're not even at the 1 1/2 year mark yet. I think I'm going to ship him off until he's 18!! Wanna send Chase along with him?

There's some sort of instinct that tells little kids when we really want them to behave well in front of others - and they do the exact opposite! It's not you!

They don't call it the Terribles Twos for nothing, hon. Most people understand that and don't doubt your superior parenting skills. ;)

Its the terrible two's I've been thru it three times and I swear my 6 year old daughter never grew out of it!! LOL.
