Guilty Confession

I have a confession to make. My toddler still sleeps with us. I'm not complaining per se because (here's the guilty part) I love the closeness of being all snuggled up in our big family bed. Yep, I purposely allow him in our bed each night. Now here's where it gets tricky. For about 5 months Chase has developed some 2-year-old style fetish with my hair. He has to have his hands in it at all times. I semi-understand this fetish, however I do not understand why I have to walk around 99% of the time sporting this whirly, bird's nest hairdo at it's expense, but I digress. Combine the family bed with the hair fetish and you get.....NO SLEEP FOR MOMMY!! I swear I was up every hour last night fighting with little chubby arms for control of my hair! I think it's high time to reconsider our sleeping arrangements.

I have family bedded ever since my oldest, now 22, was 6months old. Don't worry, she long ago left the bed! But my younger two sometimes crawl in with me.

Some days were like that;little sleep. Last night was once such night. By the time I fell asleep it was literally morning. I mean, sunshine and everything. My poor daughters were beset by mosquitos, a problem this time of year here in Israel. I must admit being bit too! And poor child wa kept awake with itchy.

It does get better, and having passed through several two year olds, you can trust me on that.

But you know, you can ask son not to go into hairtyling just yet; or at least limit it to specific times. Perhaps you can get him to release you after a few minutes or even suggest to him that he brushes your hair, and you brush his before going to bed. Perhaps even let him stroke your "pretty hair" a few times. But then let him know you need the sleep.

And if it doesn't work, he will grow out of it.

As my mil use to say "by the time they get married..."

Erm... my two-year-old daughter has always slept with me... and my almost 4-year-old wants to start again. You know, I almost don't mind it. It's very cuddly, and will end all too soon anyway!

Hey letting your child sleep with you is nothing to feel guilty about. Heck, I slept with my mama until I was a teenager! LOL

Jake used to sleep with us when he was little. Like the first month or so, but after that it was off to his own bed. Mommy and Daddy need alone time too, ya know! ;-)
